Learn Finnish

Would you like to learn Finnish? Do you have some Finnish ancestry? Are you interested in languages? Did you know that Finnish is not an Indo-European language like most European languages? (It is from the Finno-Ugric language family.)

Saima is offering Finnish language classes for beginners, intermediates and advanced students. Our instructor, Saija Laurla, is from Finland and she offers a fresh perspective on the language. Many of us know words we learned from our parents and grandparents - words that are no longer used in Finland or words that are “Finn-glish” - combo words invented by Finnish-Americans. Saija can separate the wheat from the chaff and advise us on the Finnish as spoken or written in present-day Finland. Finnish grammar is complicated, but Saija understands it! She is a knowledgeable and entertaining teacher who knows how to make learning fun. Think about diving into learning something new and challenging and sign up for Finn class!
