This 10th Anniversary of the Finnish American Fine Art Exhibition took place on October 14th, 2001.  Below, you will find some thought and comments, and pictures from the event.

We had a great show, a lot of people came - and lots of praise for the contributing artists and for the show itself.  Since it was the tenth anniversary of the show, and we wanted to celebrate this occasion - we had wine, cheese, crackers and grapes in addition to the coffee and the great variety of coffee breads.

A special photo section to honor the victims in the World Trade Center attack in New York was on display courtesy of Maija Mård.  The pictures displayed the twin towers and the surrounding areas in all their splendor, the way they would still look, if the world was different.  Now, the visitors to the art exhibit had a chance to see and remember them and pay tribute to the victims of this senseless attack.

A water color painted and donated to Saima by Linda Widstrand was raffled out.  At the end of the day, one lucky winner was notified about the prize.  You can see the painting in our cavalcade below.

It was very satisfying to see people come and not only view the exhibit, but taking good time in doing so - comparing impressions with fellow visitors.  We hope you will enjoy the pictures below, and that you will be able to share this event with us.  We hope to see you next year at Saima, for our 11th Anniversary Fine Art Exhibit!

With the help of Maija's support, Alexandra had brisk sales of Halloween motif decorated paper trays - proceeds to benefit Saima Park.  She raised $17.00 during the day!

Irene Kamila made sure the guests had strong coffee and pulla to go with it.

Wine and cheese, anyone?  Non-alcohol punch was available for people who did not want wine.

The sculpture of the chainsaw made with a chainsaw(!) attracted a lot of interest.  The rough hewn surface of the wood conveyed the power of the chainsaw.

1st prize in our Art Raffle, "Saima Woods", donated by Saima member Linda Widstrand.
